Pre-booked seat not showing up on seatmap
Hi
Have pre-booked a seat as follows through the BA call centre when purchasing my award ticket. Have a PNR email from EI which states the same seat has been booked.
However, on the EI seat map it shows the following:
I know it seems petty but I'm concerned that the booking has not gone through. Have spent most of my weekend on the phone to BA and EI concerning a number of flight changes that they made. I'd call up to alter a flight and it would book with BA but not with EI or vice versa. It's been a nightmare! So:
1) it's made me a little paranoid and
2) if I can avoid calling them up again I will!
Any ideas?

The key thing is whether you have had your tickets issued, or "fully ticketed" as it's sometimes known as. Typically this takes a few days (one big exception is online BA ticketing, which is almost immediate) and that confirms that all is well. Given that you are a very long way from departure date I doubt you will get very far hassling the airline to ticket you faster, it can take weeks, though days is more usual. In the meantime bookings live in a hinterland, neither alive nor dead, and that's quite normal.
I don't know for sure about Aer Lingus but I believe they are one the airlines that tend to regard seat reservations for unticketed bookings as being somewhat tentative, it's certainly not uncommon in the industry. Once ticketed you'd be on firmer grounds.
So I'd hang fire a bit, and wait until you get an email with a ticket number on it. If you paid the fees by Amex you can normally see the ticket number in My Transactions, and it may show up on classic.checkmytrip.com

KVS concurs with the EI seatmap:

Sorry, should have stated that I booked this trip months ago. It only occurred to me to check the seat maps after all the fuss I've had this weekend. I have both a BA and an EI ticket number for this trip, as well as a PNR for each airline. Does this change things?

That's what I thought the problem might be, but after checking my email receipt from EI my seat is confirmed as being 2A. So, BA and EI are both saying that's my seat, has been since April when I booked, but no seating maps (EI maps, expert flyer, KVS which heartybob kindly checked for me) are agreeing.
Booking EI through BA using Avios has turned into a nightmare, nothing seems to have gone right. As I said in a previous post I must seem a bit silly fussing over a seating assignment but the other problems I have experienced have made me a little paranoid.
Thanks everyone

Just an update for anyone who was interested (or for anyone who has this problem in the future), I called EI regarding the issue with them having me booked on a different flight to BA. I asked them to check the seat at the same time and it's now showing up on seating charts.
