AA Grounded- SABRE Offline

Title says it all. AA flights are grounded as its computer system, SABRE, is offline. Started at about 9:00ET this morning.

Departure boards show on-time for all flights, as a result of the computer system not updating the departure times of the flight. Phone, ticket counter, and gate agents cannot do ANYTHING. No check-in, bag tagging, boarding, NOTHING.

Predicted to last throughout the day.

I think it is safe to say, judging by what is happening here at IAH, that no-one should plan on flying AA today.

hope ground staff have some good ear plugs and thick skin for the inevitable, but unnecessary, rudeness from pax. Good luck!

I have earplugs that automatically deploy on certain conditions:

Anything over 90 decibels,
Drunken pax
People with no sence of urgency

Just getting to work now. The queue at our check-in desks in beyond 300 people here at IAH. Will keep all updated though.

I use sabre and it has been working since 9am this morning. Must be some other systems issue.

From AA's facebook page:

Clarification: The issue is with American’s ability to access its reservations system & not with Sabre. We apologize to Sabre and customers for any confusion.

Flew AA today and made it to my destination in one piece! They were great about it - endorsing pax onto other carriers, full refunds, fee-free date changes. You name it, and they basically said "yes".

The exact opposite of that time I was in LHR ticketed separately LHR-JFK, JFK-SFO and BA refused to send me on LHR-SFO nonstop despite there being space (and as a result, forcing themselves to compensate me for a hotel)
