Joke gone too far or what?

A British Airways flight steward has been charged with making a mid-air bomb threat.

Matthew Davis, 22, was on the Tokyo to London flight where it is alleged he scrawled a message on a toilet door that caused a scare.

Davis was arrested when the Boeing 777 safely touched down at Heathrow Airport on Sunday after a 7,000-mile journey.

Mr Davis, from Crawley, West Sussex, was charged on Monday with communicating a bomb threat.

He is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on 28 February.

About 150 passengers were onboard the flight.

If that allegation is proven, then he's a complete idiot.

I assume someone at Waterside is scrawling "P45" already, just in case.

Without knowing the message, its hard to say for sure, but at the very least, he's naive, bordering on stupid.

According to the SUN website, it named a time that a bomb would detonate.

I guess it was a prank that was not a great idea and other crew were most likely aware of who had played it or he may have owned up when he realised it was being taken seriously!! Apparently he was arrested on landing and has been suspended.

If the flight was from Tokyo, Haneda then it's Mixed Fleet, Tokyo, Narita would be Worldwide. This young crew member will find himself in a whole lot of bother if found guilty!!!!

If this is true, it is symptomatic of the detached way young folk today relate to reality. Of all people, you would think cabin crew would understand just how inanely stupid this kind of 'joke' is and that it would be taken seriously.

This young man deserves a short sharp wake-up call.

Bring back National Service, I say!

Reminds me of a tale I've heard before.

A few FA's communicating between themselves with a message on a napkin - the message was BOB.....I.E "Best on Board" = the best looking on the craft.

Anyway, some tool found the napkin and read it as 'Bomb on Board'.....all sorts of issues then started.....who knows?

There was the senior first officer who was fired, due to alleged links, with terrorists.

And now this BA press office will be a bit busy at the moment.

I wouldn't describe it as a joke either, it was a really dangerous action which could have triggered off a whole series of events...
