If you booked it as a round trip, then no return of avios (you could get taxes back). See:

But you should still be able to change the date of the return half of the ticket, as that is current policy (despite what the T&C still say, IIRC). So if you don't want to lose those Avios, you may need to persevere with the phone calls.
