The Avios Are Coming! The Avios Are Coming!

The Americans slept soundly, all secure in their beds,
With their covers wrapped tight, pulled up close to their heads,

On a cold autumn's night I mounted my steed,
To warn my fellow Yanks of a nefarious deed,

For just offshore in fleets of Airbuses and Boeings,
Her Majesty's armada was ready to get going,

From London, Manchester, and Edinburgh they came,
For the long awaited rematch of a once lost game,

For years the colonists had felt so secure,
They preached to the world that they were honest and pure,

So smug in their hearts, all happy and jolly,
For only a pittance of miles got Cathay F to Densapar Bali,

They gulp their champagne in their Admiral's Club lounges,
And rack up credit card bonuses while the rest the world scrounges,

They claim premium redemptions as fast as they can,
With little regard for their fellow man,

"It's nothing," they say, when their economy's insolvent,
What remedy for this arrogance? Perhaps Avios will solve it.

Alas, I fear that my ride is too late,
It seems that America is condemned to her fate,

As I ride through the night ever so swiftly,
With my Gold card displayed on my luggage so spiffily,

I hear screams from the houses as I cry out the news,
The agony of Silvers, and Bronzes, and Blues!

"To the harbor," they shout, it's but a few hundred yards,
"And there we'll show them.....we'll dump our Chase cards!"

But the time has arrived, and from the clouds as though magic,
Descended an A318, bearing news that was tragic,

Willie Walsh disembarked, cocksure and bold,
"Silly colonies," he said, "did you forget that revenge tastes best cold?"

OK, it's breakfast time on the east coast.

I hadn't realized that Habemuspapam was a Vogon captain!

hilarious, this should be a Hot Thread in the next TalkMail.

Did writing this take you as long as it took BA to announce all the changes? Wait, there are still some unannounced changes to come...
