Slightly OT: BA crew - saying it with Pride
Massive BA crew contingent at today's London Pride with a massive (and I mean huge) float. BA's guests on the float was Blue (the former Boy group; now Man group) in pilot outfits. Not sure what the tie up is or why BA paid to have Blue appear on their float but but I would welcome them serving me on any flight! Many cabin crew were in full uniform despite the hot weather. Never seen such a big effort by BA. Well Done!
I think it was a combined group with AA. Some people with walking with the same BA-style placards but with AA replacing BA. Not sure if IB staff was there. The float was promoting BA/AA/IB with a big group of BA staff in front the float and the a big group of AA staff behind the float - so obvious BA were prepared to sponsor this participation. BA staff were handing out Oyster card wallets with a 10% fare off card specially for London Pride (valid for bookings made ba.com before 16 July 2011 for travel between 02 July 2011 and 09 December 2011).
Good to see that we the staff strikes/protest over, the crew are happy to march under the BA banner again.

Does anyone know what the code is. I seen the float and it was impressive - there were some Iberia staff on the steps at the back.

I suspect some straight people might think that BA's sponsorship of this event is something political and might have missed the fact that it's likely to be personal for many at BA (more so than most other industries anyway).

Okay, let's get something straight here - British Airways is not "pro-gay", "anti-gay" or whatever - it has a proudly diverse company culture where all employees are equally treated regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. We are encouraged to work and enjoy our well-earned breaks together without any thought or consideration to the differences between us.
My lifestyle is straight, heterosexual and Christian - that doesn't stop me entering a gay or lesbian household (and I can tell you first-hand that their houses are no different from anyone else's!) or attending a gay wedding. It doesn't stop me visiting a Muslim mosque or the temple of a Sikh or Hindu either.
British Airways has always supported "pride" events in order to help break down the barriers between gay/lesbian people and society. Gradually, the world is becoming more tolerant, but there is still a lot of discrimination out there.

Though some posts on this thread still strike me as anti-gay which is very unpleasant. Would be better for people to stay out of the thread if they want to use that kind of stereotyping. Sad.
A person's sexual preference has absolutely nothing to do with their ability to do a good job for BA. And that's all we should be concerned about.
I have loads of gay friends and.loads of straight friends. I love them all just the same.
I'm proud of the BA staff who took part yesterday. Good on you
