Cancellation of award ticket less than 24 hours
Without going into the sordid details, there is a minute chance we may need to cancel 3 award tickets at short notice, potentially less than 24 hours prior to departure.
TOC on BAEC state the following:
15.2. If flight bookings for Award travel on British Airways or on flights operated by an Airline Partner are cancelled by the Member within 24 hours of departure, Mileage in respect of the Award will not be re-credited to the member. In the event you are prevented from travelling by an Event Beyond Your Control we will refund your Mileage provided you have an unused Award, have informed British Airways promptly, provided evidence of the event if requested to do so and paid the applicable fee specified on ba.com.
Does this mean that we could cancel less than 24 hours and be fully re-instated if we experienced an "Event Beyond Your Control"?
What would constitute an Event Beyond Your Control?
Sincere thanks...
Bubba

Given that you already know that you might have to cancel the event is no longer beyond your control. You could cancel now and prevent the problem.
Think: road accidents, sudden death in the family (not someone who you already know to be terminal), earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.
