So far, I've only found this (which might have been posted before):
https://www.britishairways.com/trave...club/_gf/en_gb
Expand by clicking '+ show extra information'.
Whether that is the case in practice, I don't know.
----------
EDITED TO ADD:
You don't have any family members in a HHA who could do it?
Alternativly, are there any other schemes you could benefit from the points in?
Finally, and at a 'cost', you could probably transfer around the limitation (if the limitation is confirmed as real). Best I could think of from a very quick look would be possibly via Starwood Preferred Guest?
2 MR => 1 SPG => 1 BA, but you get a bonus of 5k BA if you transfer 20k SPG.
So, assuming you have 43,500 MR (42k + 1.5k from the spend), if you transferred 40k MR => 20k SPG => 25k BA + 3.5k MR balance (or 26.75k BA total if you brought that last 3.5k as well), a heck of cost, but the best I can think of.
Might be better ways, and I'm not an SPG person.
Please note that you must be a UK member of both the British Airways Executive Club and the American Express Membership Rewards programme to be able to transfer your points.

Knowing how good Amex are with applying points, has anyone who has referred anyone had their 22k points? They are meant to be added as soon as it's approved, and not based on spend, so wondering if Amex are on the ball on this one? Could be quite hard to chase up.

I would be very surprised if they were awarded before the 42k, which will require the spend threshold to be hit. Despite the T&C's.

No, the wording is "If your friend already has The Green Card, The American Express Card or The Gold Card, you and your friend will not be eligible for the bonus Membership Rewards points as this offer is not valid for upgrading Cardmembers" - ie, any existing CHARGE card.
What is The American Express Card? I don't think that I have heard of this one.

Well, here is a new one. I've just had a foreign transaction fail to double up. This is odd, because foreign transactions were continuing to double OK even when the supermarkets stopped working.
Based on the last 7 days ... foreign no, supermarkets no, travel still (for now) yes.
