An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

I caved.

I'm sure I'll get more work done on the upper deck!

Does anyone know if the OLCI Upgrade options only become available 24 hours before flight? I have an AMS - LHR - PVG coming up and wondered if I should wait till 24 hours before the PVG departure to have more chance of getting an upgrade offer? Or whether it may still be there if I check in 24 hours before the AMS sector when check in for my booking opens? (28 hours before the PVG)?

Just looked at MMB for an upcoming JER-LGW-JER in early April- £220pp to upgrade to CE from ET... you must be joking! When we already have lounge access that seems ridiculous! That could be £220 more in Hollister... certainly know which I would choose!

BA upgraded me and my Dad to CE on our most recent JER-LGW, not the first time it has happened! It was nice though as it was the 7AM flight and we had a very good breakfast with bucks fizz. Nice way to start off a day!

LGW fares tend to be cheaper than LHR too.
I have an upcoming LGW - AMS leg in ET and it is offering just £60 to upgrade to CE. Not sure if that is because it is a single rather than return.

Not planning on taking it up as I have lounge access anyway I and don't need the TPs but even for the short hop to AMS that is a good offer.

Thanks. I called and applied the upgrade over the phone for the same price as that shown on MMB (and no phone fee due to the website error). The alternative non-NGN number was useful too ^ Cheers.

Do we know if the pro-active upgrades are updated just once a day overnight? I've got a LHR-EZE-LHR coming up and I'm booked in WT+ and I keep checking MMB several times a day to see if something might have popped up!

I was at EDI today to say goodbye to my parents, I ask at BA's desk about a flight i have on WT, they told me that currently the price is 1k+ pounds but if I use the proactive upgrade on the day of departure (only at LHR) will be 179 pounds.

So, the proactive upgrade special offer price from WT to WT+ is 179pounds for the LHR-JFK

Great, thanks. I only asked that once at EDI and since I was told they couldn't help, I never tried again. I'll be sure to ask there in future.

Just to make sure that there is no misunderstanding.

At EDI they can tell you the price but you can only book it at LHR (I believe it is the same for LCY and LGW)

The price they told me is the fixed one that they give on the day of departure (as an airport proactive upgrade price).
