Two British Airways cabin crew accidentally started a fire in a Thai hotel which killed a porter.

The couple, a man and a woman, were understood to have lit a candle and fallen asleep as they stayed over in Bangkok.

They were said to have been dragged from the room after smoke billowed into the corridor. Frantic colleagues had banged on the door to wake the pair, who broke picket lines to keep BA flying during the latest dispute. The couple escaped the fire on the 20th floor of the Amari Atrium, but needed treatment for serious smoke inhalation.

A 29-year-old Thai porter at the Amari died from .......................

I don't see the relevance to the [tragic] story of the fact that the pair broke picket lines

I gathered the importance of this stems from the fact that these FAs were staying at a different hotel from normal; there were union members at the normal hotel and perhaps they wanted to avoid altercations?

Although now that I type this, it doesn't seem to make much sense to me either.

Three Ba pilots were yesterday suspended after branding passengers "w*****s", "f*****s" and "t***s". The Mirror revealed their tirade on Facebook. One called cabin crew "bum bandits"
