Baggage weight allowance tolerance

I'm flying TLV -> LHR this week and have substantially more baggage than usual this time around. I'm flying PE which includes 2 x 23 kg bags, OneWorld Emerald which adds another, plus I'm adding a fourth at an eye-watering $170(!) so 4 x 23 bags in total.

I'll weigh my bags before I go, but let's assume my scales are inaccurate (reasonable) and the bags turn up at 23.5 kg each. Are BA likely to impose an overweight fee? Is there an unwritten tolerance?

I know this has been discussed before, but the answers are inconclusive and I'd be interested to hear if anything has changed.

I made a big mistake buying a couple of massive Samsonite hard shell cases just for this trip. I thought I got a great deal second hand but turns out that with the 23kg weight limit, one can't utilise even 80% of the space unless one is packing feathers...

Hi

I think a one world emerald gets 1 extra case at 32kg or 70lbs so would pack the heaviest bag to be used as the emerald allowance.

Regards

Tbs

As far as i understand it, OWE gets a standard 32kg allowance on every bag.

Very strange. Any sources for this? Manage My Booking says 23 kg. If it's 32, I'm wasting hours trying to balance things around.

BA systematically waives overweight bag fees for OW sapphire/emerald, so you have nothing to worry about.

It's hiding in plain sight.
BA.com/baggage

Then Find Your Allowance and drop down to oneworld Alliance members.

Thank you! I did fill in the form yesterday and it only showed the 23 kg, I didn't know one had to scroll down further. It would be nice if they edited the form output to explain this rather than assuming that users know where to go.

So I guess MMB is wrong / buggy on this. Again, thanks all, it's a bit of a first world problem but you've saved me a great deal of hassle!

I can see why MMB says what it does. It's not a ticketed feature, it is a loyalty perk where charge's are waived. If you gain or lose status your perk will change in a way that isn't connected to your ticket.
