Reward flight canx by BA

Hi. If BA cancels a flight on which I have a reward booking, is the advising and re booking process the same as for commercial bookings? This is linked to Gatwick operations being scrapped. Obviously my current flights have already disappeared from availability, leaving only LHR and LCY departures, so wondering what my options are. Will I be advised as normal as per commercial bookings? Would there need to be reward availability or would I be booked into the same cabin (CE) even if not? Thanks.

Cash or Reward, if a simple booking, when cancelled will give you the option to rebook another flight / day yourself on Manage my Booking, and it’ll open all flights with available seats not just reward space

Thanks. That's the answer I was hoping for. What's happened with situations the same as this recently is that I called by when I knew it was about to happen, but until you receive the official cancellation notification they won't reboook, despite on this occasion knowing that it's a bit of a no brainer. Just rules of course. So to confirm, you can rebook of any flight where there is any fare class available in the same cabin. e. g. Booked I or R etc, can rebook into up to J, or is it C these days.

You may have to call to rebook, I had an avios flight cancelled and the online change your flight options only showed flights with reward availability. A call to BA got me re-booked to my preferred new date in the same class.

This is more of a heads up, but a BA call center staff may have more options available than what shows on the website. I had to call earlier this week regarding a booking I had from Seattle to Warsaw, they were only showing me options with overnight layovers in London, I called and was able to get partner options without overnight layovers.
