Newbie trying to plan complex trip to Asia..

Hi,
I am trying to plan a trip to thailand amongst other destinations for feb 2012.
I realize this is quite late..

My plan was to use my 200K BA miles to take CX.

I would leave from ORD (but would prefer CDG, france though does not seem like I can afford it) stop over in HKG and then go to BKK.

I was hoping to add a stop somewhere else on the ticket in biz but I have not been able to locate other stop options (whether in thailand or vietnam,..)

Because I also had a trip to hawaii planned with AA around that time (already have a ORD-CDG that i could possibly change)

I was thinking about doing the return on quantas or JAL through Hawaii.
and pay or use miles to get between bkk and Japan or Australia.

I am thinking I will ened to get maybe an asia circle fare or somethign else to make the best of the trip since I was hoping to at least see chiang mai and bali.

Any advice as far as what I could do better for the miles and if I am missing something (except the fact that availability right now is not really making this work....)

I wish I had enough miles for a round the world of some sort or OW award.. but we will have a maximum 265K miles for 2 people...

I am also heading to Asia in Jan for a couple months and have decided to fly Heathrow to Bengalore, its a pretty economical use of miles for the distance, then travel with the economy airlines such as air asia for the relatively short trips. Might want to take a look at a similar strategy unless HK is a destination you want to visit itself and not just a stop over.

thanks! I am told that the biz class in CX is way better than BA.. I am also worreid about high fees at heathrow, if I can avoid it all together it probably would be more economical. But given our flexibility I did think about flying somewhere else and then use other flights to go to thialand.. which seems to be near impossible!
lots of food for thought...
I am getting really worried because I getting nowhere with the planning and feel like I should pull the trigger on booking asap but dont know enough to feel ok doing it and making decision..will need to research hard core.If anyone has pointers (previous threads..), I am a taker!
