Brazil Visa - DC Consulate?!
Hi!
My mom and I leave for Brazil in two weeks, and we have yet to receive our visas. We live in KY, and since we are in the jurisdiction of the DC consulate, we had to send our applications there. I was wonderng if anyone has any experience with the DC consulate, and how long did it take for you to receive your visas from them? We mailed them on June 13, and they were delivered on June 15. I've tried to call and send e-mails, and have not gotten a reply. Since it is coming up, I don't know when I should get concerned!
Any help would be appreciated!

My past experience with this Consulate is that they are very slow to respond. Usually it takes multiple emails and voice mails (at least 3 each) with each subsequent message pointing out that it is the Nth time they have been contacted with no reply forthcoming. Don't know what their problem is, other than perhaps being understaffed, but one would think that being in DC where the embassy also was that staffing would not be a problem. So, if you haven't sent at least 3 emails, or left at least 3 voice mails, keep trying, stressing the fact that you have not received a reply to previous messages, but also remaining professional in your tone. This eventually worked for me. Leave a day in between messages, and mark your email read receipt, so you know if they are at least looking at them. Good luck.
Oh, and Welcome to Flyertalk!
