GRU Lounge for the wee hours
We will be transiting GRU INTL-DOM.
G3 7653 EZE GRU 2035 2325
G3 1410 GRU GIG 0500 0557
Assuming 1.5 hours to clear passport/customs and 1 hour security for outbound, we have about 3 hours to kill between 1-4am. I found this one on the Priority Pass website but not sure if we can stay airside for the transit? We won't have checked baggage, only carry-ons.

Man, what a flight connection! Grim. The only VIP Smiles Club we've used was at GIG, and it was in the international departures area. It was for international passengers on a number of airlines, including US and UA (business and first class, and those with certain membership cards, etc.). If we'd arrive at GIG on an international fight and departed on a domestic one, we couldn't have accessed the lounge. The only clubs we've used at GRU were UA and AA airline clubs, for departing international passengers. When you exit Customs, and leave the security area, there will be a transit desk for TAM and Gol, at least, in front of you (I don't know if it's open 24 hrs.). If it's not open you go to the airline check-in desks on the 2nd floor. Ask about the VIP lounge. The gate areas are pretty sparse in terms of comfort and options to eat or drink (I don't know if anything is open all night; some places outside security should be).

There ended up being a flight cancellation to our final destination. G3 re-accommodated us on a direct flight from CGH-VIX and paid the taxi to the other airport. There were no lounges but there are plugs for laptops in some of the seats in the airport so I ended up just reading some pre-loaded e-books, my husband dozed off. So I can't give any updates on the lounge.

GRU Smiles Lounge - any info?
We are doing a run down to GRU and back this weekend. We have Priority Pass so have access to the Smiles Lounge at GRU, which says it's open 24/7.
Does anyone have any info on this? We arrive at 10PM and depart the next morning at 7:30 so don't want to pay for a hotel.
Will this lounge be crowded or relatively dead overnight?

I am here now so can answer my own query.
Lounge is not crowded, but not dead. Those who are here talk loudly and there's lots of clanking dish ware, etc so sleep isn't going to be easy. There is one little room to the right, after you enter, that is semi private and seems to offer the best chance of catching some shut eye. The lounge itself isn't too great, but its open all night, has a modest liquor selection, some sad looking hot and cold food options, and will give you free wifi via a code.
When the Aadmirals Club opens at 4:30am we are moving over there.
Oh and though we were prepared for the worst due to what others have said, we cleared immigration in 5 minutes, and had our boarding passes and were back secure side within 15 total. Guess we were lucky!
