I'm not readily identifying an error.

Congratulations on your new status level - Silver now, eh?

flying 13,000 miles in coach?

gnarly May 7, 2009 4:22 am

This is actually part of a rtw that my parents did. I was just looking after their miles. So, yes they're now silver......but do they have the right number of status miles?

Private Pyle May 7, 2009 4:30 am

I suggest you wait 24 hours at least and also note that DC systems are being updated between 6-12 May so it's possible activities may not show/update correctly in this time.

marble May 7, 2009 4:43 am

I'm about 10k member status miles down at the moment ... the part of the system which handles the upgrade between levels is quite poor (the destination miles credited correctly, but the adjustment to silver screwed my status miles completely)

Still, a quick email to bmi should sort the problem. I assume bmi are aware of the issue, but it's not worth fixing (or may get fixed by the software upgrade)?

Is it that YUL is not called Dorval anymore, rather Pierre Elliott Trudeau?

We cannot answer that with the information provided. We'd need to know the balance before they started.

Was it 10,408 status miles on 10 April?

I can see another two mistakes too. Ontario should be abbreviated to ON not OT. Quebec should be abbreviated to QC not QU. Shocking stuff!

Is that you have shown Recent Diamond Club acitivies from the 16th April 2009 to 15th April 2010 and the first two entries are for the 11th and 15th April 2009 respectively, before the period you queried?

You're right that I haven't provided the amount of miles before or after, but here's the problem that I see:

The upgrade adjustment took place on 16th April. This shows that my parents were 4254 miles over the threshold (in this case to reach silver). The system resets their status miles to zero and then adds the 4254 as their carry-over. All of these miles were due to their long flight from Sydney to Vancouver.

However, in between there was a flight from Vancouver to Toronto of 2079 miles. The status element from these miles have been scrubbed out.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter, as they have the right number of spending miles, they have the right status and they are unlikely to make enough extra flights to acheive gold, or requalify for silver. However, the system has ended them on 8095 status miles instead of 10174.

My partner had exactly the same problem. We haven't got round to contact DC about it yet.

GoldCircle May 7, 2009 6:59 am

Yes, this is a known problem - if you have two flights on one day (or by the look of what you have posted, if you have two flights credited on one day) where a status threashold is crossed, the first flight's status miles get flagged and adjusted (probably manually?) but the second one seems to get lost.

You'll need to contact Diamond Club to ahve this fixed. It won't be a struggle, as this is a well-known and well-documented problem.

This may be fixed by their new admin system, but I would contact DC immediately, before everything goes in to stasis.

What's wrong with AC? They are by far my favourite airline - much better than BA. I have always had great service from great crews, everywhere from transatlantic to remote airports in northern BC only able to take Dash-7s.

BMI could learn a lot from AC.

Edit: never mind, everyone else beat me to it while I was away for lunch. Reloading was required, it seems.
