Is this a valid redemption route?

Hi all,

Been quite a while since I posted (although I have continued to lurk!) and like many others, I'm looking at ways to burn through a heap of miles using MnM while I can.

Anyway, I'm currently looking at possible destinations for 4 people and one infant. First off, would the following be a valid route - I only ask since it's Z1 - Z8, which appears to require *less* miles than Z1 - Z7. (i.e. 70k instead of 80k):

LHR - SIN (stopover) - NRT [going to look at getting MnM C-class bookings)

Additionally, the daughter will be less than two years' old when I hope to fly so if we class her as sharing a seat with mum n' dad, will we need to purchase any kind of revenue ticket for her on top of the reward tickets I want to get?

And - finally! - anyone tried to get this number of tickets before for what is a traditionally popular route? How easy did you find it?

Thanks in advance for all thoughts and advice...

Darryl

An infant under 2 travels free as a lap child, you just need to pay whatever YQ they dream up for the airline concerned.

I think that other people have done this particular routing so it is valid.

Can't help with the 4 seats though and you may have to look at other airlines other than SQ for this one to get the number of seats that you need.

Indeed - I suspect the planets will need to be in alignment, along with a lucky horse shoe, some clover and a rabbit foot to get 4 seats on SQ, especially on LHR-SIN.

4 seats isn't impossible on other carriers, LH and LX come to mind as having more seats at a time available.

Good luck to the OP in getting what they want though. It may take a fair bit of research via ANA / Expertflyer, as well as a bit of date flexibility, but hopefully it will all fall into place for them.

Which class of service are you looking at as well?

I concur with RAPC that LH and LX look like your best bets. Premium seats are (pardon the pun) at a premium on TG as well it would seem.

You might score a better chance if it's out of the peak season for travel to Singapore and that region in general.

Another question here...

I need to fly from HKG to DXB to CPH. Using Miles and Cash. Oneway in C class.

Only airlines from HKG to DXB are SQ via SIN or TG via BKK. From DXB to CPH I can either use LH via MUC or LX via ZRH or SK direct (but they don't seem to have any space on the dates that I want). I don't want to take OS either on their A320 aircraft for the 6+ hour flight to VIE.

Question... HKG-BKK or SIN, can I take F, and the rest on C? Is it still possible?

Thanks for all the useful feedback so far, everyone.

After some initial sniffing, I can see two C-class tickets available around a time we'd like to fly. Is there merit in snapping these tickets up and then praying to the Gods that two more (1st or Business, any combo) will be released in the interim?

It's a game I wouldn't mind playing if if was just me and the missus flying, but I don't want to leave my mum n' dad in the lurch if seats fail to appear!

Are you willing to travel in 2 pairs on different routes? If so, it will probably be worth snapping them up as getting 4 seats TOTAL on your dates may be a stretch. Chances of another 2 popping up are slim on the same flight, but certainly not impossible. You will definitely need to keep checking for availability though.
