You will have access to UA international F lounge on arrival at LAX on LH F (I have done this before). You might have problems if you connect onto US though, which uses a different terminal at LAX.
You will have access to lounge at LAS if you are immediately connecting onto an international l/h in a premium cabin.

Remember that there is now a US Airways club at LAX T1 which I think you would be able to access with your int'l ticket (if you can get into the UA lounge it should be no different for US). LH are in the TBIT, so it is the same distance for connections to US at T1 as it is to UA at T7 and you get to fly in F all the way. Not sure if the 'luxury' of the UA F lounge is worth flying TED in the back even for a short flight.

This seems to confirm my previous experience (which could have been a glitch) that Air New Zealand redemption tickets do not have the NZ fuel surcharge as payable on revenue tickets

Possibly could have saved a little more actually as DUB has lower departure fees than BHD i believe
You can still fly back into BHD on the return as it would not be liable for APD tax

You could have saved £80 of these taxes if you'd done the outbound as DUB-LHR-HKG-AKL, as this would avoid the APD.

If you get delayed on that first leg to DUB you really are knackered.
You still have to pay for that first leg to DUB.
It takes you longer too, time is money in my book
I really don't think it's worth it myself.

Is this really worth it for the sake of a poxy 80 quid?
