Question on Gold 55K threshold!Thanks

Question Question on Gold 55K threshold!Thanks
I am a little confused on this benefit


Once you have Gold, Do I need additional 55K then convert to Destination miles?

Or ur 38K Gold status count towards 55K, which means I only need additional 17K, then rest of them convert to destination miles.

Unless, of course, you were matched to Gold, in which case you would need 55K more to hit the threshold.
