I was thinking more in line with the old AA 767 business class (domestic 2-class), but BD is a bit roomier. The pitch was certainly better, but the seats were not terribly comfortable. No complaints, but just putting it in perspective if someone expected a more premium experience.

Forgive me if I have missed this elsewhere...
Planning CAI-LHR with BD in November, when the A330 is on the route. Does the Gold auto-upgrade to J for Y miles still work? Or do I have to pony up for C&M?

No it has full C. Exactly as per the USA routes were.
The good news is that the premium service has been improved with larger drinks and slightly better food.
As of last week Bmi moved to terminal 3 at Cairo which and brand new and a dream compared with the others. I fly home on weds so will report on the new lounge then!
Overall really impressed with the flight yesterday. Bmi back at it's best.

How full is this route traditionally?
I've got a trip booked in June and the seatmaps look desperately empty. Anyone have experience in how the seatmap reflect on loads?

Perhaps seeing the two cabin KSA plane and interpreting C as PE?!

The loads were IIRC: LHR-CAI C=10, Y+= 2 , Y=170 and CAI-LHR C=12, Y+=0 and Y=168.
Certainly the LHR-CAI in C had more than I had expected as I think there were only 5 seats pre-booked including ours in 1H/K.

Thanks flyingoncemore. Didn't realize that. Surfing the Internet on a phone is hard!
We will see what happens. Hardly a busy terminal at the mo. We were the only plane on arrival = no taxis out front.

Cairo in September
I will be flying to Cairo on Tue 22nd Sep and back on Fri 25th Sep. Having looked at the bmi website a couple of issues have cropped up.
I was quite happy to fly in Economy price is currently 878.20
I then looked at PE and the price is only 538.20 ^
Finally Business is priced at 1016.20
Therefore I will be booking PE
Is this a mistake?
Also I was hoping to fly back on the Friday morning but there seems to be no flight. I thought it was twice a day?

No, economy is only 688.20 for those dates and is priced thus as you're not staying a Saturday night; and no, LHR-CAI has always been just once a day on BD metal.
