SA G Class

Hi there

Can anyone confirm that the current bmi class list is correct as on the bmi website, that SA G class earns 0.5X miles? I thought this class was previously non earning which is what put me off it in the past, but I am booking a trip to South Africa in the next few days, and need to make sure I will get at least some miles for my (excellent value for SA!) trip.

Also does anyone have an answer to the US K class question asked above too, which is also missing from the latest chart?

Thanks

Carl

Well DC usually follow exactly what SAA Voyager offer their members (with the exception of C where Voyager only get 1.25x), and they too state "50% Miles flown in discounted Economy Class fares" - there is no mention of a non-earning class - although the voyager guide does not actually break out into specific class codes.

Best to keep an eye on the other thread about that. I expect DiamondClub will reply sometime during the week.

That said, it was only this January that K was confirmed as earning.

G class earns 50% of the base miles for South African Airways flights.
K class earns 100% of the base miles for US Airways flights.

hi diamond club. thanks for clarifying, thats great.

One small question however, albeit a very confusing one. SAA are offeeing these special fares via there call centre only, and are bookable in G class:

http://ww1.flysaa.com/specials/en/uk_specials.html

However when I spoke to SAA they categorically said that these fares accrued no Voyager miles despite their own Voyager frequent flier programme also mirroring the diamond club, in that G class accrues 50% frequent flier miles. Is this also therefore true for the other Star Alliance partner airlines that their maybe such special offer fares, which despite being in an accruable boooking class, earn no mileage at all, because it is an 'offer' fare?
Also if a fare such as this earns no miles in the parent airlines programme, i.e. Voyager, does this also mean it would accrue no Diamond Club miles?

I know Voyager is not diamond club, but its an interesting question anyway, as it looks as though SAA are bending the star alliance rules slightly! I have not seen the answer to a similar scenario on flyertalk like this before, so it would be useful to find out what people think or what their past experiences are on this or similar situations with other airlines!?

Thanks

A very strange one, G class should earn miles within diamond club but as SAA aren't allowing their members to earn on these 'special' fares I would imagine they'll not send these 'special' fares over to us for crediting to members accounts.
