As per the flying with bmi FAQ the missing window is between row 10 and 11 but it's not so much of an issue any more because everyone gets at least one window in their 'space'.

And yes, welcome toothy

Ah sorry I guess I should check out the FAQs before asking a FAQ!

I flew MAN-ORD last month on the new business class.

It was an excellent product with very slightly angled seats.

My gripes are as follows:

1) The table is too small and it is a snug fit.
2) There is nowhere to place a drink when in the reclined position. It needs a drinks holder fitted.
3) My legrest broke inflight and could only be extended into bed mode.

Apart from that, we had an excellent flight with superb food.

We flew home from IAD on LH in F and I think that with the exception of the ground services LH provide, BMI is far better value as a C product than LH's F.

I just had the pleasure to do MAN-ORD in "the business" and must say for a business product this is really good.

They collected us from the lounge and escorted us over to put us in front of all the other passengers.

Until 5 minutes before boarding the seat next to me (3A) was empty according to the loung staff but than 2 guys traveling together showed up, one took 3A and the other 3E. They were constantly talking to each other over my head so that i had enough and moved into row 1A after telling the FA that I'm fine with no Inflight Entertainment system (had seen all the movies on offer and my latop has a big display with never movies on it).

The table is a real problem, I'm a little oversized and no matter what position of the seat I tried the table was always at a 10 degree angle and way to small. So I used the table of the seat next to me too.

The seat itself is very good but it takes a lot of playing with the seat setting to get a good position, but even with my size I found it good to work and sleep. Eating ain't good due to the table.

The onboard chef (just like GF's) made a dig difference, the food was excellent and plenty. When even I had a hunger the FA just got me something.

The CSM (do we still call them this?) came over and introduced himself by name with handshake and was super friendly.

Unfortunatly their time system was screwed up, it showed the arrival as 1215 and all annoucements were made that the time in ORD is 1215, while it's 1315, the summer time here ends at a different date. But hey...

Due to the time of arrival the immigration area was empty (actualy US citizen had to queue, vistors not at all).

I'm looking forward to my return trip sunday night.

I am looking forward to my return

Glad to see its not only me who finds there is a design flaw in the table design/ergonomics.

Small world - we were next to each other in the MAN lounge but I was in the Premium Economy cabin rather than Business

The FSM (identifiable by orange shirts rather than light blue) always personally greets the Business passengers. I didn't think our FSM was the best I've experienced. He was okay but not exceptional. In particular, he approached me in 10D and asked me loudly and in front of the rest of the cabin if I would swap to 10C so that a couple could sit together. I'm always happy to agree to swaps like this, but it turns out the couple were staff travelling on holiday who proceeded to get preferential service throughout the flight. Not very classy IMHO - there's a right way of going about looking after those on staff travel that doesn't draw attention to those concerned.

Other than that, it was outstanding service.

Just out of curiosity, was he a shorthaired guy in his 30's? I came back from Las Vegas on Sunday in Business and we were not approached by the FSM at all. It wasn't that big of a deal since the rest of the crew were fantastic but I'm used to the FSM stopping by before take off and usually before landing too.

I have to agree about the tray table. Mine was on a slight angle when out, and there was no way to adjust it. Even in domestic First on most US carriers you have a "knob" on the side of the table to make it level.

Does anyone know if the overide buttons still work on the new PE seats (old business) and if so, is there much extra room on the back row of PE to utilise the extra reclin you can/could get?

For those who are remotely interested, I did a Trip Report in PE (surprisingly in the Trip reports section of FlyerTalk).

Core Points:
Good service ^
Nice Seat ^
meal served in a tin
Voyager system was misbehaving
Sparkling Chardonnay goes well with Trousers

Good work Kevin. Enjoyed the report and the photos on your blog.

Hopefully I'll be enjoying the same PE comforts in a few weeks myself.

Enjoyed the report too. ^ bmi look to have a truly distinctive PE product here.

And you must win the "first poster to get a picture of a pair of oddly-stained trousers on Flyertalk" award.

Very nice report. BMI certainly have one of the best PE cabins now . I just wish they would do away with the foil tray for the meal. Presentation is everything.

That was the biggest bugbearer IMO (apart from the change from Japanese Crackers to Pretzels). Tin Foil meal tins don't cut it IMO (it was plastic on the way out in Y on the MAN-ORD leg)

But yes - its a VERY good product. ^^ up.

Having flown business to US for the first time since the new seats came in, I do have a major problem with the tray table.

It is a very snug fit under my knees when sitting upright, but if I want to recline the seat a little with the table up, then it becomes totally unusable.

When you start to recline the seat, the first movement is to move the seat cushion up. This reduces the space between seat cushion and table to the point where Kate Moss after a crash diet would struggle.

Using my laptop yesterday meant I had it on my knee and the laptop / footrest combination gave me cramp in my leg and as much as I tries, I couldn't find a comfortable working position.

Back to the drawing board?
