Short of Destination Miles
I am 725 miles short for the award ticket I want.
I won't be doing any *A travel for a while.
In the past I have referred a friend and got 1000 miles - but I can't find this on the BMI site anymore.
I don't need membership status miles as I already have enough of those.
What is the cheapest and quickest way to get some additional destination miles? Avis? Hilton? Other?

Ring DC and see if they will comp you the miles or let you go overdrawn.
Do you have any BAA Worldpoints or Amex MR points? Transferring these would be easy.
Do you have a BMI CC? If so, buy a refundable ticket and then cash it in later.
If not, a one day Avis rental will be £30-40 at a weekend, or one night in a Hilton / Grange / Jurys.
If you are going to LHR or LGW soon, I would try this:
1. Get a BAA Worldpoints card at baa.com/worldpoints
2. Buy 2 lots of the '3 for £15' wine that is currently on offer, giving 250 bonus points per transaction
3. This will get you 500 Worldpoints, which you can transfer to 750 DC miles
