Through check-in on a BMI Codeshare
I see the following policy on the BMI website:
As a result of our recently announced new short haul business model we have made some changes to our through check-in and baggage tag policy. Through check-in means that any baggage is labelled through to your onward destination and your boarding card is issued for your next flight.
Previously customers arriving at bmi check-in with separate tickets for connecting journeys were allowed to through check-in to their onward flight, providing the airport minimum connection criteria were met.
This service has always been provided on a courtesy basis. Greater availability of low fares to book online has resulted in more customers using separate tickets for interline journeys and the demand for through check-in has increased. In the majority of cases, the fare paid does not cover the costs of the transfer facilities and the liability costs that can arise.
My question:
I am going to be flying MUC-LHR on a BMI ticket, codeshare flight operated by LH.
Connecting in LHR to a Virgin Atlantic flight to EWR.
Will they not link my bags through?? Or does the LH policy take effect at that point?
This has the potential to be a very bloody connection if I have to re-claim and re-check and re-pass security, I'm not sure what terminals or buses or trains are involved at LHR
Thank you-- it's a "graduate level" travel problem for me, luckily many "doctorates" on the board.
Cheers

LH arrives Terminal 2 and Virgin Departs Terminal 3 next to one another.
LH are normally very good at transferring baggage if this is the case just go to the flight connections centre and an airside bus will take you to T3, If you have to collect your bags and clear immigration you can get a bus from the front of the terminal to T3 (5 mins) The recommended minimum connection times from T2 to T3 is 60 minutes.
