Allocation of seats

So does anyone know what the new rules are? Rang up telephone check in 24 hrs before Man to Lhr and was told furthest forward the two of us (both gold) could have was row 6. So who now gets the forward rows?

Strange, although it could just have been a clueless agent. One told me the other day that I couldn't have anything further forward than 22F. Needless to say that was rectified to 2A at EDI

Are the first few rows not reserved for those people paying for premium economy fares? Hence if you are travelling on a lesser fare you may not be allowed in these rows, regardless of status? Thats what I thought anyway.

Don't think so. On a trip to MAD last month, I was in 1B and 2B despite being on an el cheapo.

We have 6D and F. Ive just gone on line and made a dummy Premium Economy ticket booking. Lo and behold the only seats unavailable are ours; All other rows from the first row on are available. hence I think you are right; no matter your status seating will depend on fare sub class. I wish they would be more transparant about this.

I wonder if premium economy gets 2x3 seating? In which case it would be business class without the curtain. And the food.

Based on (admittedly limited) recent experience, the only thing "Premium" about "Premium Economy" on short haul is the price.

3-3 seating from what I've seen. SAS tend to keep the front few rows for higher fare classes on their one-class flights within Scandinavia, so we may end up seeing something similar here (which of course can always be ignored by the staff at the airport!).

Am I supposed to be able to request a seat at all on-line for lhr-bru? It says I can but then says I cannot change this booking on-line. kind of sucks - have no probs with this on ba.com.

Telephone checked-in earlier this evening and managed to obtain my favourite seat, 1F, for tomorrow's flight despite having a very cheap ticket.

Yes Row 1 for BD Silvers only does appear to be the new policy , having flown LHR-CDG and back last week with my father (also silver), and being given 1A/B both ways.
