Booking code Y: class C
For some reason, my multi segment Y trip has me sitting in C on the BD flights.
The ticket itself has a Y in the fare basis, but a C in the class designator.
Had I substituted another carrier for those legs, I would have been sitting in Y, but the ticket would have fared the same. (In fact, one of the legs is a BD flight number but LH memtal. Had I booked the LH flight number, I would be in Y).
Any explanations?

Is the flight really operated by LH? Or is it operated by a member of Team Lufthansa, e.g. Augsburg Airways? These airlines have only one configuration - but sell Y- and C-class tickets with a variety of conditions/restrictions.

I have the reverse situation
Y class, but C on fare basis. It is flight AC 6601 on BD metal - BRU - LHR
Where am I going to sit?
Do they take into consideration *Gold status?

In zrs70's case, you are in C, as the class designator says it all. Full fare economy in Europe is Business class (please tell that to the twits in the travel department!).
I've had Y tickets (full fare) that listed in Y. In this case, just go up to the ticket desk and they generally sort it out with no problems.
Clout Lounger, are you travelling into LHR on a C ticket? How was it booked? I find ual.com will do odd things, such as sticking you in Y on a connecting flight, when you should go into F.

The travel agent issued AC ticket looks like this:
YOW-IAD - Y (C fare basis) AC flight/metal (aircraft is RJ, so no bus class)
IAD-BRU - C (C fare basis) UA flight/metal
BRU-LHR - Y (C fare basis) AC flight, BD metal
LHR-YUL - M (M2CA fare) AC flight/metal
YUL-YOW - M (M2CA fare) AC flight/metal

IAD-BRU - C (C fare basis) UA flight/metal
BRU-LHR - Y (C fare basis) AC flight, BD metal
LHR-YUL - M (M2CA fare) AC flight/metal
YUL-YOW - M (M2CA fare) AC flight/metal
