using up points

I have 26470 destinatio miles balance. I was wondering is this enough to get a free ticket to Milan ? is this round trip or one way ? I want to fly from Teeside.

If flying BMI can I use my LH Gold Senator to use the lounge and can I use my upgrade awards in my LH account to upgrade a BMI flight

No idea about mileage reemption on BD but LH would charge 30,000 miles and BD, from what I recall, have lower redemption levels.

Unfortunately the LH upgrade awards are only useable on LH and UA operated flights (and for UA you are supposed to get a paper certificate from LH ahead of time!). The best use for these is to blow 2 upgrades on an intercontinental flight - much better value than using 1 upgrade per sector on the flights down to Milan. They don't expire so even if you don't travel long haul that frequently they are worth saving up.

As Senator you can use any BMI lounge even if travelling in economy - at most airports there is a Diamond Club lounge (marginally better alcohol selection and usually less crowded, especially at LHR) which only Star Alliance Golds and BMI Silvers have access to. At Milan Linate either of the contract lounges will let you in if you have your card with you - the staff are nice though the lounges themselves are not much to write home about. Beats the zoo outside if travelling during a busy period there.

You can also use Business class check in, even on an award ticket, and get an extra 20kg baggage allowance.

If it's bmi miles we're talking about, I don't think you have enough... though, only by the shortest margin. Italy is Zone 2 - which is 20,000 miles, but you also need a connecting flight from MME to LHR, which is an additional 7,000.

That puts you 530 miles short on the return amount. A night in a Hilton Hotel, a few quid on your bmi credit card, a car rental, or dare I say it... credit your next *A flight to BD?
