Late availability openings

Do CO or any other carriers open up late availability on TATL routes?

I have a protracted routing from the US through FRA to DUB, however would prefer something back to BFS (from EWR) or BHD (from LHR). Is there any possibility of an opening nearer to departure date?

My experience is that a lot of availability opens up in the week or two beforehand. Swiss especially opens up a lot although that may not help you. US Air as well.

Unless you go Swiss ZRH-DUB, which might suit depending on where in the dark north you are heading for

CO are *particularly* stingy on US->Europe TATL Business Redemptions.

In my experience, hanging out for seats on EWR-BRS, you had better have a backup plan. I only scored maybe 50% of the time, and in most cases, they didn't open up until a few days before departure.

My hunch is that EWR-BFS will have the best chance, as the route is very lightly used.

I picked up a UA F seat ORD-LHR just about 7-10 days before departure last month, so it does happen!

I scored 3 UA F seats on SFO-FRA about 7 days before departure last Feb. Depends on loads and you have a much better chance with midweek flights
