Redemption Chart Oddities
I have noticed a few oddities on the new redemption chart.
1) Yugoslavia is still shown (in Z2) even though that country does not now exist, being now Serbia and Montenegro, which are both shown separately.
2) Stavanger and Bergen are shown separately from Norway, but both in Z2.
3) Basel is on Z2 although Switzerland is in Z1!

The chart has been updated (also the website, there is no more the bullet point chart of ways to spend miles and there is a proper chart for partner redemptions)
Nothing much seems to have moved from what I remember, I can't find the print screen of the old one I had (anyone who could upload as picture?)
Something also caught my attention:
Please note: for any travel originating outside of the UK, cash values above will be converted into the equivalent local currency at the time of booking.
This was never the case in the past. The payment was always due in GBP. Any reason for this change? make some extra dosh on poor conversion?
Bizarre as usual.

Well all the other oddities are fair enough (Yugoslavia excepted) but Basel is ridiculous. They can't have looked at a map - its closer than Zurich. Let's hope the pilots do. Also, I'd never appreciated before that it cost 33% more miles to fly Z1 with bmibaby than with bmi.

Somebody has obviously been ordered to "make sure all the new destinations are in the redemption table" and a dog's dinner has duly been made.
The only changes from the previous version of the redemption table are the new bmi destinations and it's silly to add these individually to a country based table (all the relevant countries were already there).
And Basel is just embarrassing. I'm sure it will move to Z1. Better still, bmi should just restore the old table which was perfectly good apart from the Yugoslavia business.

I think it's all the result of the Maroc destinations. According to the chart they will only be Zone 2 from April, until then they presumably remain Zone 5.
This could make a useful anomaly for anyone travel across this period.
Still, I think someone forgot to say Basle was the exce

You may be right. They'd already moved Morocco to Z2 in the table on 16 Feb though. So if this zone change was only meant to be effective 1 April, the new update may have been an attempt to "clarify".
Anyway, it's now a bit of a mess so we'll see how long it takes to tidy up.

I did point out via the Social Meeja team the other day that the wording around the Z1/Z2 connection charges is so badly written that it could easily be misconstrued (especially by the muppets in Pune) to mean that any connection via Z1 or Z2 is subject to the charge (eg BHX-FRA-SFO).
To their credit BD have agreed that the wording is not as clear as it could be (even though its been this way in the burning table forever) and that they will be revisiting this to clarify.

A little misunderstanding in house, this table shouldn't have been updated as all the countries as you know are listed. It was meant for the on-line redemptions section which we're updating. Basle should be in zone 1 and not 2, I'll hold my hands up for that one. Apologies for the confusion.
