Getting to Silver

So reading a lot of threads, it seems I'm still a long way off from getting anywhere near where you a lot of you guys.

Ironically, i'm actually nearly at a place where I won't be blue, and I've only flown BMI once, the rest has all been code share (or AMEX miles).

Anyway, I'm on 11605 status miles and am scheduled to do a return LHR YYC in April, the question I've got is will that 1st flight get me to silver on its own, I'm eager not to lose any silver miles if I get somewhere .

Thanks in advance guys, keep on doing what you're doing on this forum, it's great.

Impossible to answer as you don't say which airline you're flying, what class of service and/or which fare bucket you're booked in.

YYC-LHR earned me 4359 on AC, so will take you to 15964 if you're earning at the same x1.0 rate .

Presumably you mean Silver benefits here. I'm not sure there are any on AC itself: just about the only benefit for *S is from the 'home' programme's lounges.

If you mean the bonus destiation miles then you'll have to wait a bit longer to get them , but its only 1000 or so which you can buy if it was make or break for a redemption.

I thought I'd double-check... seems crazy to miss it by short a margin, right. I'll be doing a return, but thought that the status miles will disappear when I go to silver, so was eager try and make it on that first flight.

It used to be 16k miles that get removed, and the rest carried forwards to get you started for Gold. 4323 in your case. I think it's still the same, as per the stickies.

Thanks EsherFlyer CAZ, you have put my mind at ease. Shame I can't get the silver sooner, but hey ho, that's the way it rolls I guess, would be good to earn more miles, always handy
Incidentally looked at L in both BMI and *A and wow- 4 x as much on star alliance is just crazy

I don't think it matters much whether you get to silver before or after your flight, because DC*S is worth a whole pile of nothing when you're flying AC*.

*Well, an extra thousand destinations miles or so.

Actually, you do get to take an extra bag for free as Star Silver.
