Last Flights

Pinched from Pprune - but for those with a favourite aircraft you may be interested :

G-MIDL is on maintenance in SNN but will then position to EMA for repaint and handback to the leasing company.

planned last days in service of the others:
G-MEDE 20Jan
G-MIDR 13Mar
G-MIDP 3Apr
G-MIDC 17Apr
Worryingly there was an Embraer parked on the remotes at DUB the other day.

G-MIDL bmi A321 in white 'Star Alliance' livery
G-MEDE 20Jan ex BMED A320
G-MIDR 13Mar bmi A320 with convertible 3+2 seating
G-MIDP 3Apr bmi A320 with convertible 3+2 seating
G-MIDC 17Apr bmi A321 in 'heritage' livery

The 2 A321s have been busy in the last few years on charters and 'special missions' : does this signify a scaling-down of the charter department ?

Incidentally, after the end of the TLV route at the weekend, one of the A330s is operating the CAI route, and the other has gone off to......RAF Brize Norton.

I'm sure Varig, Mexicana (and therefore Oneworld) will be delighted at the news; and lets not forget Ansett.

Is that where these aircraft to be returned came from originally?

The lessor will get a sweet deal from the RAF then if they can be pressed into service as troop transports. They are waiting for some 330's to replace the L1011's aren't they? A reliable aircraft will help them out no end.

They've got G-WWBB, and left bmi with G-WWBM. Smart.

Ah - the ever venerable and reliable BMI and exBMI A330's.

Never an engine problem at all with them...

But the loss of the other frames... are BMI just dumping the older aircraft as they end their leases and keeping the shiny new ones to themselves?

It seems the more things change....

Im sure you've heard whispers that the leases at BD, WW (and probably regional too) were interesting, to say the least. Worse than that they are very expensive as well, looks like LH are dumping leases at every possible opportunity, looks like it will be the G-MEDx (which would have been all from B|MED and probably more realistic) aircraft and the 319s which will be the backbone of the fleet for them immediate future.

Well it seems more and more each day that what was BMED is now what BMI is turning into with a domestic/Ireland feeder network....

We must be getting close to the point where the official bmi mainline paintjob is not the official bmi mainline paintjob anymore. Infact if you take out the 319's working for LH and LX and restrict the pool to planes operating bmi services, I think we've got there.
