Question Minimum miles

Quick Question:
Is there a minimum number of miles you earn when flying, specifically short sectors in the US on US?

When I called BMI a few weeks ago about a ZRH-VCE booking in Business, I was told that there were no mimimum miles, so ZRH-VCE would have netted me a paltry 452 miles each way (with LH M&M it's 2000 miles flat rate + Executive bonus). Seems a bit unequal.

I always thought for all flights on non BD metal it was 600 miles? Unless anything has changed recently I'm sure I've been getting a minimumn of 1200 miles for each C sector I've flown lately.

Providing your ticket is in the 1x earning buckets, on all non-BMI metal flights, it is 600 miles minimum.

Check the redemption charts.

Good if you're segment hopping in the states (and I've had a good amount of UA/US segments post OK in the past.).

Here is the table - http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/diam...s/flights.aspx

As you can see, there is a minimum of 600 miles (All bmi UK domestic flights and partner flights of less than 600 miles in distance 600 miles earned for each one way)

Thus, ZRH-VCE is 600 mininum miles x 2 for business = 1'200 miles per segment. Not very appealing, compared to the 2'000 miles which you get if you collect with the M&M program @:-)

It's all relative. You have to burn considerably more miles for an award in M&M compared to DC so the earning rate is higher to partially compensate.

In addition to Tiger_lily's point about redemption rates, don't forget that 1,200 miles is more than 3% of what's needed for BD*G renewal, whereas 2,000 miles only gets you 2% of the way to SEN. It's not an apples-with-apples comparison (SEN lasts longer than BD*G, for example) -- but that's precisely the point.

Please.....let's not have this discussion again. Its been flogged to death many times.

In short, you can't base everything on the earn rates alone.

You can. You simply shouldn't.

Here's the baffling info from the DC web page:

All bmi UK domestic flights and partner flights of less than 600 miles in distance: 600 miles earned for each one way
All bmi non UK domestic flights of less than 800 miles in distance: 800 miles earned for each one way
All bmi flights of more than 800 miles in distance and non bmi flights of more than 600 miles in distance travelled: 1 mile earned for each mile travelled

Means you get 600 miles min for everyone else and..
.. 800 min for BD-only non UK domestic flights
Er, what BD domestic flight is non-UK?
Or do they mean international, excluding UK domestic?

Now what about say LH in M or H class, that's a generous 0.5 miles earning - does that mean a minimum of 0.5 x 600 ?

I think that's meant to be read as "All bmi [non UK domestic]", as opposed to "All bmi [non UK] domestic" - ie, all bmi flights that are not UK domestic flights.

Yep. The same applies to, say, BD cheap economy tickets (300 rather than 600 miles minimum).

Question Status miles clarification

Slightly OT but I need some clarification on status miles. On BD is miles earned always = status miles earned? So, if I am getting 3x miles on an F ticket, will I also get 3x status miles. Similarly .25x status miles for tickets that award .25x miles?

If it is a partner that earns status miles (so *A partners rather than DC partners) then you are correct. Status and destination miles earn at the same rate.
