Avis in Rome

I need to return my rental in Rome and was wondering if there is a location just outside of the city for drop off so I can avoid the hassle of driving in rome?

There are many outside of the city, at least one at FCO, two at the east, one at north, one west and two south. Where are you going afterward?

We will be coming into Rome from the Amalfi coast. We will be in rome for 4 days before we head back to the states. We know that we do not want a car while we are in Rome. We are staying at the Excellsior on Via Veneto. I know that there is an Avis site near the hotel. That is where I currently am scheduled to leave the car. I was just wondering if there was an easier solution just outside of the city, maybe even just off the Autostrada coming up from Amalfi, so I did not have to navigate the city to get to the location near the hotel.

Thank you for your quick response. You sound like an Avis expert!

The office you are probably booked for is Via Sardegna; I agree that it can be somehow difficult to navigate there even with printed directions, however it is right next to your hotel. The easiest would be on Viale Europa 351, because it is in EUR (the area that was built for the World Exhibition that never happened because of WWII); it is not very far from the highway and it is next to the subway line B (you will have to make one change to reach your hotel). The area has some modern "sights" that are different of downtown, so you will be able to see those at the same time (including the Church of SS. Pietro e Paolo, at the end of Viale Europa).

Thank you,

I guess it would be easier to just stick with our original plan and drop the car at Via Sardegna.
thank you for all of your information.

Question What kind of cars?

I'll be renting a car in Italy, picking up at the Hilton in Rome and returning in downtown Venice. The car I choose was a Mercedes A180, which Avis showed a picture of what looks like a 220 sedan. When I Googled the A180 it shows a hatchback, but I want a trunk (like the 220). Does anyone know what choices of a sedan are available?

I agree, via Sardegna is so close to the hotel (like 2 blocks) you should drop the car off there.
