E-Mail Receipts
I usually get handed a receipt printout when I return my rental.
And of course I can log into my account at Avis.com and see my rental history.
But I've never gotten a receipt emailed to me before. I returned a car this morning and within minutes on my Blackberry was a receipt for the rental (they had also handed a receipt to me).
I've never seen this before... and I do rent from Avis rather frequently. I haven't changed anything in my profile... Is this new?

It may be at the discretion of the person who checks you in. I had it happen twice last month. The first time, the handheld printers were malfunctioning. The second time, it was very early in the morning, the desk was taking care of check-ins and the agent mentioned he would email me - probably because they couldn't verify gas level and mileage right then.

Yes this is a new thing talking from an European perspective. When they redesigned their website you had to sort of create a new account again and you could opt for E receipts which is pretty handy. I also read by the way in a magazine called buying business travel ( UK based mag )that Avis will be implementing proper elite levels with rewards apart from the usual opgrades.

Bamavol it did not state specifically if it would be worldwide or Europe only.
It would make sense worldwide. It said it would be rolled out spring 2007. Well lets see what happens.
Yes indeed Preferred is a bit of a joke in the rewards department
