I am often upgraded by avis to the dts. It is comfortable and does have a nice trunk and XM so I can't complain too much even though I feel my age go up twenty years when I get behind the wheel and it has a huge turning radius (More than once I have had the white knuckled experience of having to back up while attempting a U-turn on a major road in traffic).

Anyway the one thing that drives me nuts are the automatic custom settings for mirrors/radio/etc. that are reset everytime I stick the key in.

Apparently there are only two people in this world that know how to reset the custom settings. Based on where the mirrors go to when I turn the key, one of them is about 7'6", and the other is 3'9". I share neither of their tastes in music.

Can someone tell me how to reset the customized settings to what work for me - or at least how to disable the automatic reset of the current settings on startup?

From 2006 DTS Manual:
"MEMORY SEAT RECALL
If the vehicle has this feature, it allows you to select
your preference for the memory seat recall feature. See
Memory Seat, Mirrors and Steering Wheel on
page 2-51 for more information.
Press the customization button until MEMORY SEAT
RECALL appears in the display. Press the set/reset
button to access the settings for this feature. Then
press the menu up/down button to scroll through the
following settings:
OFF (default): No memory seat recall will occur.
ON: The driver�s seat will automatically move to the
stored driving position when the unlock button on
the remote keyless entry transmitter is pressed.
NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature.
The current setting will remain.
Choose one of the available settings and press the
set/reset button while it is displayed on the DIC to
select it."

This has frustrated me as well. If you look up on the dash....all the way to the left you will see 6 buttons. The main button to get into the menu looks like a check mark surrounded by quotes as I recall. Anyway, you can enable or disable features like the seat that moves when you turn off the car as well as that annoying mirror that aims at the ground when you shift into "R".

Setting the radio would take up more room than I suspect this board would allow. I'll just try to program all the good stations into every Avis DTS I drive, so you will be all set when you get into one. I hope you like XM150, the comedy channel WITH profanity....

Setting the radio isn't hard...it's just the frustration that follows the next time I start the car and watch all the presets change to the Christian station, the Rap station, and some FM country station that doesn't come in clearly.

Easiest thing to do IMO is to hold down the #1 button for about 5 seconds on the door to commit your settings to memory. Then repeat with #2. GM did a brilliant thing by tying the key fobs to the driver number, but NOT labelling which fob is which.

Just remember to redo the memory buttons when you adjust something.

Typically a small engraved number (about a half inch large) on the back of the fob. My cars that have had multiple seat settings have all had fobs that were labeled.

Yes, in the past GM did this. No, there are no numbers on the fobs on the 2006/2007 DTS, nor most new GM vehicles.
