Another Avis to Avoid: Memphis
My review of Avis in Memphis:
I normally don't rent from Avis, but had Pricelined a car for a one-day trip here, and got Avis.
Good points:
-The shuttle was waiting outside the terminal when I arrived, and took me straight to the facility.
-Both shuttle drivers (pickup and return) were very friendly
Bad points:
-Dirty car
-Although I am not Avis Preferred, even the Preferred customers had to go inside and wait in line to get keys
-Very long lines with inadequate staffing (several people at counter - 6 people in line - 2 agents working)
-Agents would repeatedly disappear into the back for long periods of time for inexplicable reasons
-Because of the 2 above reasons it took me over 30 minutes to pick up the car, at noon on a Friday, hardly a peak time.
-When I returned the car, I was billed even though the reservation was prepaid (and I've checked the credit card...it went through
). Outside agent said "go inside, I don't know anything about Priceline".
-Went inside, and found the same situation as before (several people in line, no agents at counter, agents consistently disappearing). I waited in line for 15 minutes and the line did not move AT ALL. Literally. I had to leave to make my plane, so I left.
Now trying to sort this out with Avis customer service.

An update: I did get this resolved with Avis customer service, and my card will be credited for the overcharge.
It was still a frustrating experience and would dissuade me from using Avis (or Priceline, on the chance I might get Avis) if I need to rent a car in MEM again.

I had a bad experience with Avis in Chattanooga Tenn (spelling)
I was like NOOOO never again
I was raining and the car I was in was flooding and the wipers didnt work right I got to the avis and they told me.
Just put a towel down that should keep you feet from getting wet.
And the solution for the wipers was dont drive in the rain.
I said Ok. That isnt a option can I get another car and I did and refuse to go abck through there again
