Status on avis

Hi
I couldn't find any info on Avis site regarding a status. Do they have anything called elite, platinum etc. Only think I could find was preferred member which does not give you any status, just makes is easier to get car.
Right now the only points I am getting is some 150 pts for airlines. I was wondering if there is a way to earn Avis Points(if it exists) for free rentals, like Airline points for free seats.
Thanks

FrequentFlier.com release dated 12 May 04
http://frequentflier.com/ffc-051204.htm
"Avis has relaunched Preferred Select, the elite tier of its Preferred Service program reserved for customers who rent at least 15 times in an 18-month period.

In addition to complimentary upgrades, a free Wall Street Journal at major airport locations, access to lowest mileage cars and priority service, Preferred Select members who rent 15-20 times receive a copy of "Best of Quick City Guides," plus a free rental day and 2 travel publications after 21-30 rentals, and a free weekend rental, and free airline companion ticket after 31+ rentals."
(I couldn't find any direct link to the Avis Preferred Select program on the Avis website!)

Complementary Avis Preferred Select membership is also available through credit card programs including but not limited to American Express Platinum Card.

Avis levels are:

Preferred Select (earn via rentals or with Amex Plat)
Presidents Club (given to big corporate customers or with Amex Centurion)
Chairman's Circle (given to Fortune 500 CEOs and some private jet timeshare customers)

Minor correction... it's actually called Chairman's Club.

Also, there are 3 different pseudo-tiers within Preferred Select, which dictate what benefits you get (at the top is a companion airline ticket).

What? I get 200 miles on United Airlines plus an Elite bonus of 500 miles for each rent (normally 3 days.)
