I need to rent a car for two months, in the San Diago area.
I do not usualy need to rent and do not have a knowledge of the companies, Hertz, avis etc. What kind of deal would be best, should I collect miles? join the program? I need a full size 4 dr, please any help gratefully recieved.

Consider renting from an Enterprise neighborhood location with this kind of need. Avoid airport locations at all cost - you'll pay through the nose on airport fees, taxes, etc.

You could also do an Avis "mini-lease" at an off-airport location to avoid the airport fee's, etc. I do the Avis mini-lease quite often. Check the cost with my favorite awd# L093590 and see how the price comes out. It should be very good. You need to call avis and ask for the "mini-lease" department for a quote.

Normally, I would wholeheartedly agree with you, however, unless things have changed since my last rental at SAN (13 mos?) this airport has the lowest taxes and fees on car rentals of any airport I can recall.
