Complimentary via Amex Plat

Where did you find this link? I have an Amex Small Business Platinum and the only way I've seen to sign up was to call a number and have them send out a packet. I called a few weeks ago and am still waiting to receive said packet. TIA

I went to my summary of accounts page and in my personal platinum card section was an "Enroll now" link for, "Car Rental Privileges."

D'oh!

Thanks for the quick reply, however I don't see such an option. I guess the online membership is only available for personal, non-business cards. Oh well, hopefully the package will come in the mail sooner than later.

Will my account ever change to reflect Preferred Select? I have 30 rentals for a total of 140 days (pretty much every day covered since 8/6/05) but haven't noticed any change. I rent full-size and occasionally get decent upgrades, but spend most of my life in a Buick LeSabre (I think it's the same one each week at BWI).

EDIT: I emailed Avis to inquire about this as well and was told that they reviewed my file and decided to upgrade me - only a 2 hour response!!! ^

Simply call and ask!

I called their preferred cust svc. number (from the avis website), and they were quick to update me to Select status!

Select status lasts for 18 mos. before they check again.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I recently signed up for Preferred based on Amex Plat, but never realized there was a Preferred Select until reading this thread.

Just came back across this thread. No, I didn't get an upgrade on that rental. In fact I had a 1 car class downgrade.

I have to admit that unless it was a huge jump (mid-size to luxury), I would likely be oblivious as to whether I had received an upgrade or not these days. The mid size of yesterday is called a full size today in so many cases.

actually very few cars have changed class. the most recent was the malibu. Once a full size it became a Mid size. Within the alamo/national system, a malibu is still a full size.

Also, more for price than class, the Ford mustang coupe is a D class "standard" d door full size, though the main criteria of determination is number of seats and number of bags held in the trunk is not met.
