Location: MCO Booked: Full-Size Sedan Offered: 23' Chrysler Voyager Received: 24' Jeep Grand Cherokee I kept refreshing the app and it wasn't until I was in the garage, that the Grand Cherokee and a Ford Edge were offered. |

Location: MIA Booked: Toyota RAV4 (F) Offered: Received: 24 Toyota Sienna Hybrid so booked up a people carrier ages ago, and then cancelled after realising it would probably be overkill for us and booked a RAV4 instead (probably about 1/2 the cost too), ended up with the people carrier anyone lol |

Location: YYC Booked: Full Size Sedan Offered: Jeep Grand Cherokee Received: Jeep Grand Cherokee It would seem they don't make Full Size Sedans anymore as this location doesn't appear to have them very often and wants to move you to an "UG"...clearly what they have the most of and want to move. The UG to the Grand Cherokee is nice, but it seems like it will pass everything but a gas station and has WAYYYY more technology built into it than any rental car (where you need to acclimatize your self to the vehicle in 5 mins) should have. Definitely going to cost me more in fuel than the original booking as I'll be putting on about 800 kms in 4 days...will have to re-think accepting these 'UG's' in future. |

Location: RDU Booked: Intermediate Offered: Ford F-150 V8 Received: same No other option on the app and did not want to wait in line. A thirsty, obese, wallowing beast. People who don't actually need a truck buy these on purpose? And it had possibly the most ridiculous pointless gimmicky thing ever: the T-handle shifter has a little mystery button ahead of the P indicator. I pushed it and the T-handle rotated down flush to the console. Push it again and it noisily grinds its way back upright. WHY? This will break in five years leaving the T stuck in the down position rendering the truck immobile and cost $1,000 to repair. Yes it creates a flat surface on which one could with some contortioning possibly operate a laptop computer, but WHHYYY? I remember Ford's 70's-era jingle: "Ford has a better idea!". Not anymore, they've run out. |

Location: ONT Booked: Intermediate Offered: Beater 2023 Chevy Equinox with over 40,000mi Received: Genesis G80 EV Whoa they removed the ability to change the car in the stupid app? Went to the counter, super-nice agent gave me this EV, the first one I've ever driven. Pretty flossy! But there's no charging station at this hotel so I'm unsure if I can return it charged up. Still, the $35 charging fee is less than what it'd cost to fill up here ($5/gal for regular!). Nice upgrade. The steering felt really weird until I turned off the lane nanny and the deceleration re-gen is pretty aggressive. |

Location: YYZ Booked: Full-size Pickup Offered: (was waiting for a pickup truck) Received: Dodge Durango R/T with 96k kms!! Quite wild that they're running a car with 96k on the clock. Had to go through the counter, barely had anything on the lot other than a handful of minivans, a Yukon XL, Durangos, Mustang Mach Es. Quite disappointed with the PC selection. Although no other rental car company had anything decent last night. Although, the car vibrates after 100, but it will do. Also, since when does Avis do limits on the kilometers? I only have 400kms. |

Location: ZRH Booked: Mercedes GLB (guaranteed model as "Avis Select") Received: none Made a booking for a guaranteed model on their CH website and the car turned into a Ford Transit panel van after a few weeks in the app. After a lengthy email request to check what happened, they first said it was a "system error" and they offered to fix the booking and they confirmed that I'll get the GLB. Now they sent me an email that "they can't change the booking as it is for a van category". but they can cancel the booking. Not sure if I'll be using Avis next time. |

Location: DAL Booked: Full-size Sedan Assigned: Dodge Durango R/T Offered: Chrysler 300, Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee Received: Dodge Durango R/T V8 The car had an issue where it would crank for a long time when starting and then would sort of sputter out and die. I wasn’t near the branch to exchange it by the time I first encountered the issue. Luckily I discovered if I hit the gas as it started up it would rev up and then run fine after a few revs so I avoided having to make an extra trip back to Dallas. Definitely not used to having a hard start in a rental surprised they keep something like that in the fleet without some sort of repair. Status: PC Location: ORD Booked: Full-size Sedan Assigned: Mercedes EQB 300 (app said gas even though it’s an electric model so I went out to the car and confirmed it was electric) Offered: Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq Received: Dodge Durango GT V6 Was at the airport for over 2 hours due to another issue so I was able to refresh the app multiple times but only got offered the same 5 or so electric vehicles (only 3 options show at a time in the new app, not sure if that was an ORD thing or a new app thing). Went to the preferred desk because I was driving 500 miles out the gate in rural areas and wasn’t looking to worry about finding electric charging. Asked for a sedan but all they could offer was a Jetta which was much smaller than I wanted. Was also offered an equinox and Durango. Took the Durango which was very dinged up and had an overpowering smell of just for men products but I was in a hurry after the long delay and had no desire to go back to the preferred desk again. |

Location: ROC Booked: fullsize sedan Offered: 2024 Dodge Hornet RT PHEV Received: 2024 Dodge Hornet RT PHEV Notes: had a full tank of gas and 1% battery. My hotel, along with a parking lot near where I went for dinner, had free charging, so other than the first trip to the hotel, the rest of the rental was done on EV power. Really enjoyed this one. Status: PC Location: PBI (one-way to MIA) Booked: midsize sedan Assigned: Mazda CX-9  App: Malibu, Malibu, Mazda 3, Kia Forte, Malibu, Malibu, VW Taos, Mazda CX-30, 2024 Camry, 2025 Camry Hybrid Received: canceled  booked a new reservation through the app, all the same options Received: 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE Notes: someone put after-market tint on the windows and it was very tough to see outside at night. Car was taken out of service upon return. Also had to wait 40 minutes for the shuttle at PBI when picking up. Original res was auto-canceled as they pre-assigned the car 2+ hours before I was scheduled to land. -J. |

Location: LAS Booked: mid-sized pickup (Tacoma or Gladiator) Assigned: Genesis GV60 Offered in app: nothing Offered at counter: Ram 1500 of Ford F150 Accepted: 2023 RAM 1500 Classic 40K mi .. Oil Change and TPMS lights aglow my entire trip. The GV60 as an option for a pickup truck reservation is a joke. I did take a look at it in the assigned stall and it's a total Fisher-Price EV wannabe luxury with goofy 22" wheels and the unibrow e-dash. |

Location: ATL Booked: Intermediate (highest class our system lets me book) Assigned: nothing Offered in app: "see agent" 😡 Offered at counter: Ford Edge I'd only booked this one that morning, but on arrival at ATL around 1500 I figured there would be a car assigned or changeable. Nope. "Sorry, no cars available." Frown. Was offered a Ford Edge at the Preferred kiosk, took that. It reeks of weed smoke and is a pretty basic model but I took it. Awful 4-cylinder little bitty engine in this heavy beast has a hard time moving it, and it's already chugged ¼ tank going from ATL to my hotel, maybe 38mi. Trying to figure out why there was heavy water/mineral spots INSIDE the glass. Usually it's been pre-smeared with a greasy rag for my convenience, but water stains inside the car was a first. |

Location: PHX Booked: convertible Assigned: 2023 Ford Mustang 2.3T App: "Null" midsize SUV  Received: 2023 Ford Mustang 2.3T Notes: has over 30k miles but it does have heated/cooled leather seats so I just went with it. I was expecting it to be warmer here but it's still pleasant enough to drive with the top down. I did take a quick look around the lot and nothing really jumped out at me, though the Cadillac XT6 was easily the most common vehicle, and also a lot of Dodge Hornet R/Ts. -J. |
