Website Booking -- "forced" LDW selection

For my last two online bookings, the Avis website "included" LDW even though I have it set as "declined" in my profile. The option was selected and greyed out under options so I could not change it. Both times required me to chat with an agent to remove it, which was easy enough but beside the pont.

I've used the same corporate AWD (with email verification) for the last 10 years and never had this happen until just last month. Any ideas as to what may be happening?

Two possibilities:

1. The AWD that you are using was recently changed to automatically include LDW.

2. You were renting in Italy where LDW is required by law and is added to all rentals automatically.

Both were US rentals, so I am thinking it's this one. I *think* my company has a separate leisure AWD. I will have to check and see if it retains the option.

I did not know AWD codes can force LDW. Learn something new every day.
