Avis - Additional Driver + Preferred Member
Avis car rental question:
I'm traveling with another party who is renting a car with Avis under their name. I'm planning to meet the other party at the rental location, although there is a chance I may not be able to meet them at the rental shop. If I am not able to make it, as a preferred member, do I still need to be present at the rental counter at the time of renting in order to be an "additional driver"? Meaning, being present to sign the additional driver form and show my license. Per Avis website, they don't address this scenario specifically but it sounds like I will need to be despite the fact I am already a preferred member?

I do not believe that your Avis Preferred status exempts you from the requirements to appear at the rental counter, show your license, and complete the additional driver form. If you want to save some time, it looks like you can download the additional driver form and complete it in advance.
If you cannot personally appear at time of rental, it might be possible to be added as an additional driver subsequently, by personally appearing with the renter at any Avis location; contact Avis to inquire about this possibility.

AutoSlash Could you confirm that additional driver can be done by being present with the primary driver at any Avis rental location rather than at the original pick up location? Anyone had that experience before?
