Minimum charge for earning miles?
I find myself in Southern California, and see that I can get a one-day weekend rental of a compact car from Avis at SNA for less than $9.00, using the AARP AWD, and the $5-off-a-weekend-day coupon on a pay-now rate. Add to that the $1/day frequent-flyer mileage fee, and it looks like I can get the car and 1,000 AA miles for just under $10. But does Avis have a rate threshold for awarding miles?

If you are a regular AAdvantage member, then you will earn 500 miles minimum per rental regardless of the cost of the rental. If you are a Citi AAdvantage or AAdvantage Aviator MasterCard cardholder then you will earn 750 miles minimum. Platinum Pro, Platinum and Gold members earn 1K miles min, and Executive Platinum members earn 1,250.
I'll also mention that these bonuses apply to both Avis and sister company Budget.

That is, unless Avis has wisened up recently compared my previous experiences with them.

a) Make the reservation with your Avis Preferred member number which will automatically add it via your default preferences
b) Use your confirmation number and add it at Avis.com
c) Give it to the agent at the rental counter when you pick up the rental
Hope this helps!

a) Make the reservation with your Avis Preferred member number which will automatically add it via your default preferences
b) Use your confirmation number and add it at Avis.com
c) Give it to the agent at the rental counter when you pick up the rental
Hope this helps!

a) did get an Preferred number, but cannot find a way to enter AA# in profile.
b) used my confirmation number to pull up reservation details:
Under section "Rate & Benefit Information" is a Wizzard number field, if I click on "modify" it takes me straight to the reservations page to modify/change the existing booking?!? So, no way to add Wizzard number.
Same thing happens, when selecting modify under the "Your information" section.
This is just one piece of sweat to get a partner number in there.
Seems like they want to avoid customers getting partner credits!
Sorry for my frustration, AutoSlash. Still like you guys!!! ^
