Mexico Deals

I'm flying to Mexico in March for a 3 week break and was wondering if anyone knows of codes that work for hire cars in Mexico?

Wondering How This Worked Out.

My concern is that the Travelocity website doesn't offer nearly the same quote as I get using this code - so what's the connection, and is there a chance of being asked for some sort of ID?

Am curious if this worked out (assuming rental already took place). I used the code for a future reservation and it gave me a very nice 5 day minivan rate for a one way.

Wow, I made an reservation online for DEN and this code gave me a huge discount for a SUV. Althought the SUV was greatly discounted compared to other codes and rates, it was only the SUV and Premium car classes that this code had any affect at DEN on my date of travel.

found this info over at rentalcodes.com

BCD V816100
Coupon ID TUGZ032

25% off plus free weekend day. The site also said that you could get $25 off of a week rental. Compact through Full Size.

The site states it is for UNION members only. When I go to the website (unionplus.org) and search it out, I do find the discount information. I am a union member, but not of this particular one. Is Budget going to ask for ID from me to prove my membership?

This is producing an AWESOME rate in ABQ for Memorial Weekend.

Even more interesting material can be found by clicking the "return to BVR home" link on that page; for example:

https://www.budget.com/bvr/web/html/...promo_log.html
https://www.budget.com/bvr/web/html/..._POWERDRV.html

(The second one gives a bunch of nice coupon codes while also explaining how to "capture the reservation, and ultimately the rental, by making the customer feel that they are receiving a special value and that we care about their business.")

There is also good, detailed information about rental policies around the world, and this helpful guide to staying in shape:

https://www.budget.com/bvr/web/html/...ergocizes.html

Anyway, I found much of it quite interesting and revealing; I don't know how long it will remain open like this, but I highly recommend taking a look.

Months later and these links still work. Has anyone been ballsy enough to try the government codes or maybe even the Budget employee code? :D Do they ask for proof of employment at the counter?

This was PERFECT for DEN. Renting off site would be 220 with code 144, at the airport something like 240 and with code 190... nicely done!

well I almost had some balls. I had booked a car in orlando mid feb with the budget employee code, as opposed the to delta bcd. the employee code gave me another $5 off. But I chickened out, because of not being able to prove should they ask for ID. better to stick with the delta bcd since it was only another $5. HOWEVER, I talked to someone who used to work at Enterprise and they said they never verified employee IDs. crap shoot i guess.

here's an updated link to that interesting post with great codes, still working

I don't know about Budget, but I've been using a government code at Hertz for over a year and have never been questioned.

Which BCD have people used with success . . . most discount least hassle . . . too many to chose from . . . thanks in advance.

Chickontheroad Feb 29, 2008 12:43 pm

Try Y243100 - I found it on a coupon site. I got a mid $30 rate in LAX for next week. It's attached to a marketing company but the counter has never asked me for any I.D. - I also registered for the Budget "Fast Break" and used the discount and I get it every time I rent and rarely have to stand in line.

Chickontheroad Feb 29, 2008 12:44 pm

Y243100 also waives the underage charge. This is a great website thanks for all the insight.

Nick, my rapidrez bcd is U093300 for delta airlines discount (19/day compact) but during this delta 5000 miles bonus, I've been using V053900 gov't leisure rate (13/day compact). I used it 3 times this past weekend, no questions, no problems.

I should mention I rented from sacramento. same bcd's may give different rates, better or worse, at other locations.
