Coupon Use

I have a question. Can you use a double upgrade coupon from Entertainment book with the D002807 AWD? It would save about $25 if I was able too. In practice has anyone used coupons with different AWD's then the one in their profile.

When I put in a different AWD it warns me I won't get all of the preferred priveledges, is this true?

Also, if it is a double upgrade coupon, do they give you more of an upgrade if 2 classes higher isn't available, or can they knock you down to a lower car? I am travelling to Orlando with 4 other people and we are looking to upgrade to the Deville class of car.

You can use the coupon with the AWD number. You will have to call reservations to use the AWD number if it isn't in your profile. If you book online, it will simply mean you will have to go to the counter to have your contract printed. You will have to go to the counter anyway to present the coupon so it doesn't matter where you book the reservation. The coupon is only valid for a 2 class upgrade with a maximum upgrade to a premium and IS BASED ON AVAILABILTY at time of pickup.

I just used the D002807 AWD and the $25 coupon here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum77/HTML/000160.html without any problems. The D002807 saved me $10 off my usual corporate AWD that is in my profile, and the coupon was an additional $25.

catwood,

I had the same problem when using an AWD different from the one in my profile(i.e no preferred service...). I followed the advice posted on this thread and have never had the problem since.

The recommendations by others are good. I have had success using a coupon with a different(non-corresponding) AWD code. FWIW, the cheapest rate I could find for my two upcoming rentals is the AWD# D002807 with the $25 off weekend coupon previously mentioned.

FWIW, I logged in online with my Preferred number and just changed the AWD before making my reservation. The car was ready for me with the credit card tied to my Preferred card. It took so little time that I forgot to give the coupon and had to go back later in the day to turn it in. I really don't think it matters whether you use your Preferred card or not.

Notice that some coupons have a note to agents that say "At checkout - In AWD, enter ******* - In Coupon enter *******"
Be careful as this could raise the rate if they enter a new AWD.

The $25 off coupons don't have AWD codes.
The $25 off a three day rental coupon seems great as there is no restriction against using it on Premium cars that are "C" and above.
Coupon for $5 per day up to $25 good for any class of car even subcompacts.

Coupons "may not be used in conjunction with any other coupon, promotion or offer" so I doubt this means AWD code discounts but who knows.

I don't have any special AWD # in my profile, and I made an online reservation using AWD D002807. I plan on using the "up to $25" coupon referenced here: http://content.avismail.com/cgi-bin/25off.cgi?name=

Does the reservation I made need to have that AWD in my profile prior to reserving, or are you simply stating an AWD# in your profile may overide an AWD# you manually enter in such as AWD D002807.

This $25 coupon says on it "the customer name on this coupon must be the same as the name on the Avis Rental Agreement."

There's no name on the coupon (from the link provided above), so will I have any problems using this???

After copying the URL into your browser, change the name to your own in the following format: First_Last. Refresh the page and print the coupon.

Here is an example with a name in it.
