Impact of not adding additional driver?
I am curious what the impact of not adding an extra driver to a rental is. We are all covered by out own insurance and then further by our work's insurance becuase it is a work rental.
If it matters we are in Germany as well.
Thanks in advance and safe travels!

I am by no means an expert in this, but I was reading through the Hertz thread and they have an exception for the additional driver...meaning that you don't have to sign up an additional driver if that driver meets the same requirements as you do (I guess age, drivers license) and is an employer, employee, colleague, spouse... something like that. Check your contract under the additional driver part for any exceptions to the requirement.

This is actually a good question that I never thought of before. What is the point of adding an "extra driver"? Legally if a person has a valid license they can drive any car that anyone owns. So if pulled over, a cop really has nothing to say so long as the car is legal and insured and the driver is licensed. And if the driver has his own insurance then he would be covered for an accident. So what really is the need to have his name on the contract?
