As I can't supply you the answer with what the best seats are, I can tell you the seats themselves are horrible!
I have done the LAX-SJO-LAX flight twice now. The first time was in economy and I swore I'd never ride in the back again! The second time I upgraded to the front cabin and the seats were of course much better. The economy seats have absolutely no padding! I couldn't even believe it. TACA's flights were fine, on-time, etc. and I would fly them again if it were not for those horrid seats. Okay, enough ranting. Maybe someone else can really answer your question!

Any other TACA experiences out there? Anyone fly them from IAD? I'm looking at booking a IAD-SCL flight and for the dates I am looking at they are charging a little less than $850 all in for coach, 1300 for business. It looks like the US airlines are charging about 1100 for the cheapest coach ticket.
Almost makes me want to try business for the first time.
