Combine two reservations

Hi have a question around how to combine two different reservations...

VUP BOG 9am
BOG MAD 3pm

Booked one on Lifemiles and the other cash fare... Is there a way to combine the two different reservations so that luggage can checked right to Madrid?

Not possible. You could ask them to check the luggage through but most airlines won't - not sure about AV. You have a lot of time to connect so if not successful just check the bags.

As the first flight is a domestic you pick-up any checked luggage at the luggage belts at BOG (you pass them anyway after deboarding) and bring it upstairs for check-in with AV. Really not an issue and you have plenty of time to do it.

No, 2 separate reservations can't be combined.

I have a similar question. Bought ticket from GIG to BOG separately, then fly BOG to SFO Via SAL as the second leg of a round trip. Would it be possible to check the bags all the way through? All Flights are with AV. The connection in BOG is a little short of 3 hours.

No first hand experience, but it is entirely up to the check-in agent at GIG if he/she is prepared to go the extra mile for you and tag the bags all the way to SFO.

Do keep in mind that you should be prepared to show proof of Yellow Fever vacc. at the check-in counters because when traveling on a separate ticket to BOG, your destination to the check-in agents in Brazil is Colombia and not the US (and you need YF vacc. to enter Colombia from Brazil). I have witnessed several pax being denied boarding at the check-in counters at GRU because they didn't bring YF vaccination certificate or didn't have it.
