Delayed flight refund?

I have a United flight booked with Lifemiles. I am wondering, if the flight is delayed and the new/rebooked time doesn't work for me, what options do I have? Will I get back the miles without penalty? Can I do so after no show for the delayed flight?

Call LF to get a solution!

Why do you want to do no-show and then request a full refund? smells fishy!!!

Well, because it might be more efficient to drive.

I know if I booked with UA direct the value of the flight would be reissued. I just don't know how it would be handled with a partner booking.

Within 24 hours to the original fight time, United has control of your ticket, and can chose to either rebook you to another flight or keep you on the delayed flight. Without an outright flight cancellation, United will likely keep you on the delayed flight.
Now, it is up to you to fly the delayed flight, negotiate with United (fruitlessly I believe) to be rebooked, or abandon this ticket and purchase a separate ticket. If it is a the very first leg of your ticket, then you have the option of abandoning the LM award ticket and then asking for a refund of your miles and taxes ($100-150 refund fees will be charged). Otherwise, just swallow the delay.
