Is it Amex that others have face problems with too?
You need to set up her "Call centre PIN" under her profile settings which is needed when you're going to pay for her booking. With the call centre it's anyone's guess, so a lot of persistence is required.

Just dumb things down as much as possible, and just say that you've made the reservation earlier and would like to pay for it now. Don't mention the payment failure as it'll just prompt them to refer you back to the website.

Good luck! (you'll need it)

I had payment issues with Chase Sapphire but Amex worked fine, so just ymmv it seems. I didn't want foreign transaction fees so now I call ahead to Chase and they clear my card for a month at a time for Taca purchases.

If there is limited availability I'd call. I waited on one that failed on payment and the availability never came back.

They do not charge foreign exchange fee. I always use my AME PRG to pay for miles, tax and fee. I got 3 points per dollar and no foreign exchange fee.

Data point- Mine was Amex Plat and it was blocked by Amex due to fraud protection.

The PNR is set up and seats gone so only way is to wait for seats to auto cancel or call it in.

just call in and claim the website was unclear and you want to make the payment. just pretend you're more incompetent than they are and make them feel empowered. :P

worst case they won't do it and you'll have to rebook online - but it would suck if the seats never came back.

Well they charge in USD, so I got dinged. I'll use a forex card next time.

It usually starts a few days into the month. Wait another few days, I think.
